Recent Side - Quests

Or maybe i should say major side - quest because this project was no small task. When one of my oldest friends from college asked me to paint a mural for her baby girls bedroom how could I say no. Sometimes I am shocked with how much creative confidence others have in me… I have painted a lot of things in my past and frequently complete commissions but this was on a whole different scale. I had never painted a wall, let alone an entire wall before. She said that I was one of the most talented person she knows and that still stays with me whenever I had imposter syndrome when it comes to my work.

The style and patten she had in mind sat right with me… I love a good tessellation haha. I am quite mechanically minded and even when producing art, with the way my brain works, I love good balance and need things to make sense. I mapped things out, made a stencil, planned a particular pattern down to the shapes, developed layers and colors, labeled every inch of the wall, and got to work. 3 days later I had produced a piece of work I am very proud of. I think this pattern will be able to sit with this little girl through many phases of life. It can be matured, but still gives such a whimsical and free spirit feeling.

I would truly love to do more of these… maybe I will start with my own house, but my DMs are always open to create more!!!
